MOST ARE USED: Most are lightly to moderately used. It may be possible new ones slip into the mix and it may be possible very used ones slip into the mix – however, we do our best to make this batch lightly to moderately used – but the batch is AS IS. We have cleaned all motors, new and used, with PB Blaster. The motors with lost luster, we have been able to restore, or mostly, but there may be a few imperfections on some. We check all motors for working parts but don’t guarantee them to run – please read Warranty and Return Policy below.
THESE MOTORS HAVE HISTORY: According to the COX MODEL ENGINE HANDBOOK (Tim Dannels and Dan Sitter, published by Engine Collectors’ Journal and sold on eBay by engmagswife), this motor came with a pinion and impeller setup (the motors described here are setup for propellers). The motors were developed for the Chaparral and Group Seven cars (hence the “-7″). The Chaparral race car was sponsored by Cox from 1965-67. When they dropped sponsorship, they were no longer able to market the Chaparral name in their models. Production discontinued in 1968. These are working motors that also have collector value (see disclaimer below – you are purchasing “AS IS” – we check them but don’t guarantee them).
MORE HISTORY: They were part of a conspiracy between Dale Kirn and Lew Mahieu for a project they never brought to completion – time has a way of getting ahead of all of us. They have been in storage in Lew Mahieu’s shop for 9 years and at least that long in Dale Kirn’s. Now we are clearing the shelves and you can own a piece of this history..
SHIPPING INFO: Ships within 2 or 3 days of purchase.
MULTIPLE PURCHASES: Shipping for each additional motor is only $1.00. All motors must ship together in the same box. You can order multiple quantities in the shopping cart, but if you want me to hold an order to ship with another, you must let me know.
WARRANTY & RETURNS: We have not tested the motors – except to clean them and assure they are not seized, so all motors are sold AS IS. However, if you are not happy with your motor and want to exchange, please contact us for a return. All returns are limited to exchanges – NO MONEY BACK. You will be responsible to pay shipping for the return to us and we will assume shipping charges for the replacement to you (once only).
